Connected and automated vehicle technology can potentially contribute to
reducing traffic accidents, improving transportation systems and
increasing quality of life. The EU-funded Levitate project will develop a
wide-ranging evaluation framework to assess the impact of connected and
automated transport (CAT) on individual mobility and society using
several indicators. The project will provide short-, medium- and
long-term assessments from early-stage implementation, to increased
penetration of more highly automated vehicles in the fleet, to universal
CAT use in transport systems, vehicles, personal mobility and
infrastructure. Levitate will include a set of validated methods to
measure the impacts of existing technologies and predict their future
implementation.
