Corridors, hubs and synchro-modality Thematic Group (TG2)

Language English ‎(en)‎
Skill Level Beginner

Group overview

The ambition of this Roadmap is the achievement of EU‑wide co‑modal transport services within a well‑synchronised, smart and seamless network, supported by corridors and hubs, providing optimal support to supply chains. It represents a step change towards the Physical Internet vision by synchronising intermodal services between modes and with shippers (Synchromodality), aligning equipment and services on corridors and hubs, and integrating these into broader networks.

Integration so far has mainly focused on interconnectivity and interoperability of transport processes and equipment. Full alignment has been achieved only partially at the TEN‑T core network level, with limited freight‑specific coordination between hubs and corridors. Important dynamic qualities — flexibility, resilience and responsiveness — remain underdeveloped. Vertical integration, aligning transport services with the needs of manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers, is also still limited.

ALICE Electrification Community A member-driven forum to turn electrification knowledge into practical deployment decisions. The ALICE Electrification Community is a member-driven forum that helps logistics actors move from scattered research knowledge to practical deployments on the road. It connects ALICE members with project results, members experience and partner networks across vehicles, charging, energy, hubs, operations and digital tools. Its purpose is to reduce uncertainty, identify real barriers, and accelerate implementation through shared learning, structured exchange and targeted matchmaking.

ALICE Urban Space Community Urban space is a key issue for cities, and for logistics.

NEXTLOGIC is a collaborative, digitally empowered platform that supports the co-design and co-creation of sustainable urban mobility and freight solutions for European cities. The project brings together cities, research organisations, industry actors, and networks to enable data-driven, climate-neutral urban logistics and transport systems.

The EiFa-S project aims to make Combined Transport (CT / “Kombinierter Verkehr”, KV) connections easier to discover and to compare across providers by improving access to timetable and connection information. EiFa-S builds on the previous mFUND feasibility study EiFa and now moves into the implementation phase. The project transforms conceptual results into a robust technical system architecture and a publicly available showcase platform.  A central element is the further development of the Intermodal Map into a neutral entry point where harmonised timetable data, CT terminals and connection information are brought together in a map-based interface. The ambition is to lower barriers for CT “newcomers” (e.g., shippers and forwarders) and support a shift to more sustainable transport solutions.

CCAMbassador is a Horizon Europe Coordination and Support Action (CSA), launched on 1 June 2025, focused on enhancing the coordination and operational readiness of stakeholders involved in Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM). The project expands engagement beyond research and innovation actors to include public authorities, operators, and citizens, facilitating the uptake and deployment of CCAM solutions across Europe.

IKIGAI is an ambitious European project aiming to accelerate the realisation of the Physical Internet (PI) by 2040 and decarbonise freight transport and logistics by 2050.  IKIGAI supports logistics companies to reach decarbonisation goals, in an affordable and competitive way, managing regulatory pressure and market volatility, removing major barriers to scalability of innovative solutions fit for the new economic landscape.

ALICE Digital Urban Freight Community The ALICE Digital Urban Freight Community is a member-driven ALICE Community focused on digitalisation and data exchange for urban logistics. It brings together experts, practitioners and policymakers to improve interoperability, strengthen data governance, and enable more efficient, sustainable and resilient cities.

ALICE Intralogistics Community The ALICE Intralogistics Community is a member-driven ALICE Community, officially launched in January 2026, focused on the systemic role of intralogistics in Europe’s logistics and supply chains.  The Community was created to move beyond treating intralogistics as a standalone topic and instead address it as an integral part of end-to-end logistics, closely connected with transport operations, supply chains, energy systems and digital infrastructure.  Co-led with engaged ALICE members, notably LIMOWA, and supported by the ALICE Secretariat, the Community functions as a collaborative space, where members jointly explore challenges, share practices and develop concrete actions, solutions and business cases.  You are welcome to share and promote the group with your peers by using the public page in ALICE website: https://www.etp-logistics.eu/roadmaps-3-2/alice-intralogistics-community/

BoostEDIC M&L is a Digital Europe Programme action funded under the call DIGITAL-2024-CLOUD-AI-06-MOBSPACE

The main goal of BRIDGE is to assist the intermodal freight community with the implementation of the current TAF TSI Regulation, as well as the new TSI Telematics, from a door-to-door perspective.
