Key contributions to ‘Access the Physical Internet through a logistics network and mind shifts required to adopt the concept of PI’

ICONET

Successfully demonstrated of technologies and protocols testing PI based tools and approaches in order to facilitate further adoption of the PI paradigm (Generation 1).

LEAD

Developed and demonstrated urban consolidation centres and demand responsive mile delivery solutions (generations 1 and 2).

LessThanWagonLoad

Developed a smart specialized logistics cluster for the chemical industry in the Port of Antwerp in order to shift transport volumes from road to rail freight. It developed a new pallet (LWL - less than wagon load) and created a new added value rail freight service enabling modal shift through automation for the industry within the Antwerp chemical cluster (generation 1).

ULaaDs

Developed and demonstrated collaborative last-mile delivery services (zero- emission, shared and crowdsourced) in city centres offer a solution for the on-demand delivery of goods to customers and businesses in a flexible, cost-effective, practical, and sustainable way (generations 1 and 2).

SENSE

Enhanced, and stabilized a solid framework for industry, research and public bodies to share advances, barriers, opportunities and best practices regarding Physical Internet implementation to facilitate the mind-shift to adopt the concept of PI. It build awareness and raise wide consensus on the Detailed Roadmap towards the Physical Internet developed in the frame of the project (generations 1 and 2).
